Emphases of our Work
Science and Research

Modern psychiatric-psychotherapeutic science and research is characterised by interdisciplinary collaboration between a broad range of specialties and experts. The DGPPN promotes the further expansion of networked research structures.
Young doctors

The general shortage of doctors in Germany is also making itself felt in the field of psychiatry and psychotherapy. The DGPPN is actively committed to supporting young doctors. Since 2009 the association has been developing concepts and projects to increase the attractiveness of the specialty psychiatry and psychotherapy in the long term.
Care
Care of people with mental disorders improved with the 1975 German psychiatry reform. However, the current governmental austerity measures in the healthcare system, together with the prevailing shortage of doctors, have resulted in poorer care for people with mental disorders. The DGPPN is committed to expanding and preserving care structures.
Internationalisation

Psychiatric-psychotherapeutic research benefits not only from the interdisciplinary collaboration between a broad range of specialties but also from networking across borders. The DGPPN is active in international committees to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between national associations.
